Forgiveness in the Bible

Forgiveness in the Bible

The importance of forgiveness can be found throughout the Bible -- from Genesis to Revelation.  Forgiveness is a foundational truth that is included in God's Word for our benefit.  No matter how wonderful a person is or how well they live, everone needs forgiveness – not just one time, but throughout our lives.

Who did God put forgiveness in the Bible for?

Forgiveness is for you and me.  We were born with a need for forgiveness by God.  Being created with the ability to recognize our need for forgiveness is what makes us the greatest part of creation. We are unique individuals with a freedom of choice.

Even a callous person recognizes the need for forgiveness as they go through life.  People know on the inside when they do something wrong and that they should ask for forgiveness.   Whether they do it or not is up to each individual.

What is forgiveness in the Bible for?

Because we cannot go through life without wronging God and others, we need forgiveness in order to mend the relationships that have been damaged.

Forgiveness is God’s tool to reconcile us.  It is the glorious release that is given to the one who committed the fault by the one who forgives.

When is the forgiveness in the Bible required?

Every time there is a transgression, forgiveness is required. For many of us forgiveness is a daily necessity.  Forgiveness is like medicine, to be taken when needed.  Forgiveness is sometimes needed several times in the same day for the same area.  Forgiveness is needed when we want to be reconciled to God Almighty or to His creation.

Where is forgiveness in the Bible used?

Forgiveness is used by God to restore us to Him.  To stay in relationship with our loved ones and to bring us back to the love walk, we need to practice forgiveness.  Using forgiveness towards our enemies keeps us from being consumed by bitterness over an offense.

Forgiveness is necessary to get through everyday life and to stay on the path of peace and contentment.

How do we walk in the Forgiveness that the Bible talks about?

Allow the grace of God to work in your life so that you can receive His forgiveness.  Receiving God's forgiveness puts you in position to know how to forgive others.  You are called to walk by faith and not by sight.  Do not allow what you think, feel and see to keep you from forgiving. The “how” is to know that God’s way is best and He set up the system of forgiveness for the benefit of all mankind.

Why is the plan for forgiveness in the Bible?

Because without Jesus Christ coming into the world, walking as a man, living without sin and dying for us there would be no forgiveness.  Why is forgiveness in the Bible?  Because God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever should believe in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  Why?  So we could be reconciled to God for all eternity and to be able to forgive man.
