Give and it will be given to you
This scripture is near and dear to my heart. It is the first scripture used in the first message I preached over 33 years ago.
Luke 6:38 still resounds with me all these years later. Give and it will be given to you. What a powerful statement of truth. There is no maybe or sometimes. Give and it will be given.
I have meditated many days on this verse and I know it to be true. I have lived in the principle of, “Give and it has been given to me”. We do truly reap what we sow.
God set the system in place and lived it Himself when he gave his Son. God so loved the world and He gave His son and in return He has received you and I as his harvest. The law of giving worked. We are the result of God giving His Son.
I like to give, I desire to give, and I do give. I have learned that everything that is of God gives. We are made in the image and likeness of God. We are made to be like Him.
We need to allow ourselves to take on the nature of the giver, to make it a practice of our daily life. A giver by nature is ready, willing and able to give. Even if we did not have money, we would still find a way to give. It is a mandatory lifestyle for us. As much as we need to breathe, we need to give. Giving is not something we do; giving is a part of who we are.
As a giver we do not object to being asked to give. We are ready to give without hesitation. Many times we are giving before we are even asked. We can give our last dollar knowing that all of our needs are met and that because we have given it will be given back to us.
If you find yourself holding back in your giving, afraid to tithe, denying opportunities to give, don’t despair. There is help for you.
Ask God to give you understanding on how to be a giver, how to have His nature flowing out of you. Ask God to, “Open the eyes of my understanding that I might know what is the hope of your calling.” Once you can see what the giver sees, giving will be a part of your everyday life.
Giving is fun. Giving works. Giving produces results in the receiver and the giver.
Give and it will be given unto you.
